How much can I get for an old air conditioner?
It comes down to four things, in this order: what type it is, how old it is, whether it still works properly, and what condition the body is in. Those are the questions the form asks, and the figure it returns is the one we pay.
A newer unit in working order is worth several times a dead one of the same size. Even a unit that has stopped working entirely is worth having, because the compressor, the copper and the sheet metal are all recoverable, which is why we pay for it rather than charging to take it away.
Is it better to sell an old air conditioner or scrap it?

Yes, and it's worth quoting here rather than as scrap. A gas top-up is a routine service cost, so it reduces the price a little, nothing like a failed compressor does.
Is my AC too old to sell?
Rarely. Age lowers the price but there's no cut-off. Even 12–15 year old units in working order are worth more than scrap.
