How Much Is My Old AC Worth in Delhi? (2026 Price Guide)
If your AC still cools, expect somewhere between ₹4,700 and ₹20,100 in Delhi NCR. Four things decide where you land: type, tonnage, age and whether it works.
Here is what we actually pay for a 1.5 ton unit in good condition.
| Type | Under 1 yr | 1 to 3 yrs | 3 to 5 yrs | 5 to 8 yrs | 8+ yrs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Window | ₹14,200 | ₹11,700 | ₹9,200 | ₹6,800 | ₹4,700 |
| Portable | ₹11,700 | ₹9,600 | ₹7,600 | ₹5,600 | ₹3,900 |
| Split | ₹16,700 | ₹13,700 | ₹10,900 | ₹8,000 | ₹5,500 |
| Inverter Split | ₹19,200 | ₹15,800 | ₹12,500 | ₹9,200 | ₹6,300 |
These are not made up for this article. They come from the same calculator behind our AC price list, so they move whenever our real buying prices do.
Tonnage matters as much as age
A bigger unit costs more new and resells for more, so it holds value in absolute terms. For a split AC in good condition:
| Tonnage | Under 1 yr | 3 to 5 yrs | 8+ yrs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Ton | ₹14,200 | ₹9,200 | ₹4,700 |
| 1.5 Ton | ₹16,700 | ₹10,900 | ₹5,500 |
| 2 Ton | ₹20,100 | ₹13,000 | ₹6,600 |
Why inverter units fetch the most
Two reasons. They cost the most new, so their resale price starts higher. And they carry more copper in the piping, which sets the floor when a unit is beyond repair.
Window ACs sit at the bottom of the working range but hold up surprisingly well as scrap, because the whole unit is one dense block of metal and compressor.
Working or scrap: the gap is large
This is the single biggest factor and most people get it wrong.
A working AC is valued on what it resells for after servicing. A dead one is valued on recoverable material, mostly the copper in the coils and piping, the compressor and the sheet metal.
The gap is usually four to six times. A 5 year old split in working order fetches around ₹8,000. The same unit with a failed compressor is closer to ₹1,500.
So if yours still cools, even weakly, quote it as a used AC rather than scrap. A gas top up is a routine service cost, not a dead unit.
What lowers the price
- Gas leak or not cooling. The largest single deduction.
- Noisy compressor. Usually means it is near the end.
- Water leakage. Often a cheap fix, small deduction.
- No remote. Minor, but it adds up.
- Heavy rust on the outdoor unit. Affects both resale and scrap weight.
What raises it
Keep the bill. An original invoice adds about 5 percent, because it makes the unit far easier to resell.
Photographs. This is the one most people skip. A buyer who can see the condition before arriving can quote firmly and stick to it. A buyer who cannot has every reason to revise the price downward once they are standing in your flat.
Sell before summer. Demand for second hand ACs peaks in March and April in Delhi. The same unit sold in November fetches less.
How to get a price
Our AC selling page asks for brand, type, tonnage, age and condition, then gives a figure in about two minutes. No listing, no waiting for buyers, no strangers visiting to negotiate.
If you accept it we uninstall the unit ourselves, including from a window frame or an outdoor bracket, carry it out and pay cash before it leaves.

Is the online price the final price? It holds unless the unit turns out to be materially different from what you described. That is exactly why photos are worth adding.
