How much can I get for an old refrigerator?
It comes down to four things, in this order: what type it is, how old it is, whether it still works properly, and what condition the body is in. Those are the questions the form asks, and the figure it returns is the one we pay.
A newer unit in working order is worth several times a dead one of the same size. Even a unit that has stopped working entirely is worth having, because the compressor, the copper and the sheet metal are all recoverable, which is why we pay for it rather than charging to take it away.
Is it better to sell an old refrigerator or scrap it?
Sell it, if it runs at all. A working unit is bought for resale and priced on what someone will pay for it, which is well above scrap. A kabadiwala prices the same unit by weight, and weight is the least valuable thing about it.

Typically several times a scrap price. A working unit is valued on resale, so brand, size and age matter, while a dead one is valued on its compressor and metal.
My fridge cools but the freezer is weak. Which page applies?

Do I need to defrost or clean it first?
Defrosting helps us move it safely and is appreciated, but it isn't required and doesn't change your price.
Will you take it down from an upper floor?
Yes. Fridges are awkward and heavy, and carrying them out, including from upper floors without a lift, is part of the free pickup.
